We arrived at the Iron Horse RV Resort around 2:35pm Sunday April 22nd. Should be hold up here for about 1 week. Although the schedule is flexible. The bus ran well for the 192 miles required to get us here. It's busier than Ely.

Needed some boards under the front wheels to get the bus level and the internet sucks! More information to follow as we settle in. Otherwise all seems fine.

Just an update after being here a week. Stores and supplies are readily available. Supermarkets are also reasonable. As for the campground we've had some issues. Our site #34 wasn't graded properly to allow us to level our bus. A bit frustrating after a day's ride. mad We started off with just 1-1/2" extra lift but after sinking in, that didn't cut it. So we needed to get more boards.

The usual collection of undisciplined dogs scattered about the park get obnoxious after a while. However, our immediate neighbor has three dogs and you couldn't ask for better behaved pets. Elko has a strong mining business and this campground is home to many that work in the mining industry. Everyone has been pretty nice along those lines.

Sometimes it's necessary. After sinking in we had to go find more planks, however.

Our first showers were great with hot water. The last two we had to rush to avoid the ice cold water which we knew was on the way. HUGELY frustrating! mad And this place ain't cheap either at $310/wk. And that's supposedly with the Good Sam discount. But we can't really figure out just exactly what the discount is which is a bit shady. I've mentioned the shower issue twice. Once to the maintenance guy and again to the desk girl. She offered no apology or seemed inclined to take any action.

The internet remains just about useless which is another hassle. Otherwise the grounds are well kept and the place is reasonably quiet given it's quite full. We think they could do a bit better on the weaker areas like showers, internet and staff personalities. If you're staying here 1-2 days, it's fine.

We visited the free California Trail Interpretive Center (Hunter exit off I80 just west of town). They've done an excellent job with the presentation. Well worth a visit. It's hard to believe anyone could survive such travel conditions.

Looking forward to moving westward to our next stop. laugh
