For those that read my projects, I worked up a TLCD library for the Hitachi compatible 2x16 LCDs that come with Microchip's Explorer 16 development board running a PIC24FJ256GB110 MCU. I recently had a call to migrate this software from the C30 to the C18 compiler for PIC18F family MCUs to make the Newhaven LCD work. This display uses the Sitronix controller chip. The Newhaven LCD produces nice looking white characters on a blue back lit background. The LCD uses only 2 LEDs on one end for back lighting. Thus it has a small amount of flare on the right side.

I completed the project which took a bit longer than expected. The software is now available for anyone interested.

Software for Newhaven 2x20 LCD model NHD-0220DZ-NSW-BBW.

The software supports reading and writing of the LCD in either 4 or 8 bit mode. It also includes the virtual paging functions.
