Days skied in the 2011/2012 season.....

Mon (12/5) - First day of skiing..... 15% of the resort was accessible with nice snow conditions. Perfect blue skies with very cold temperatures in the low teens. We had a really nice time! We skied Bald Mountain, Bald Eagle Mountain and Flagstaff Mountain. Runs included Silver Link, Birdseye, Little Reb, Ontario, Success, Rosebud, Homeward Bound and McHenry. We even located an aspen glade with lots of fresh powder.... very fun!

Wed (12/7) - Another fun day of skiing. Spent most of the time working on our skills. Perfect blue skies and temps were much warmer than Monday. We skied Bald Mountain, Bald Eagle Mountain and Flagstaff Mountain. Runs included Silver Link, Birdseye, Little Reb, Ontario, part of Solid Muldoon, Success and Homeward Bound. We also skied the aspen glade twice.... fresh powder still existed. Very fun!

Fri (12/9) - Perfect weather.... blue skies, no wind and temps in the high 20's. We skied Bald Mountain, Bald Eagle Mountain and Flagstaff Mountain. Runs included Silver Link, Birdseye, Little Reb, Race Course, Ontario, part of Solid Muldoon, Success and Homeward Bound. We also skied the aspen glade but the snow is starting to settle and get heavy.

Our first week of skiing was really fun. We used the time to practice tight turns, keeping skies together, etc.

Mon (12/12) - The resort opened a few more runs so we checked them out. We skied Bandana over to the Empire Mountain area. Unfortunately this mountain still needs a few snow storms to get it up and running. We went back to FLagstaff Mountain and skied Lost Boulder and Lucky Star several times. Lucky Star was all natural snow (thin cover though!) but was a great run. We skied it several times. Skied Blue Bell and Solid Muldoon to return back to the Snow Lodge area.

Wed (12/14) - More runs continue to open (about 30% of the resort is accessible). No black runs are open yet. We continued to work on technique and skills. We skied a few runs on Bald Mountain but spent most of the time on Flagstaff Mountain. We really enjoyed the runs in this area. Not crowded at all.

Fri (12/16) - More runs continue to open. A few runs with "thin cover" are accessible but expect to hit rocks! Spent most of our time on Flagstaff Mountains skiing Lost Boulder and Lucky Star. Pretty much the only area with mild moguls for us to practice.

Mon (12/19) - Wow.... big difference with the crowd. Christmas break must have started early. Lift lines existed and people everywhere. We were spoiled the first 2 weeks. We skied over to Lady Morgan and skied Dakota and Nugget. Conditions not good. Spent most of our time skiing Lost Boulder and Lucky Star for practice. Skied Little Kate on our return and the slope was horrible! Conditions everywhere are not very good..... need snow!

Wed (12/21) - Had an inch or two of snow last night but didn't make much of a difference. Skied 3-Ply in the Red Cloud area a few times. It wasn't a bad run but hit rocks several times. We also skied the Sunset glade and found a pocket of the woods with about 18" of powder. An unexpected surprise! Grab a quick run on Lost Boulder and ended with an altercation with the Ski Patrol chick (what an attitude!). We wanted to ski Blue Bell and over to Viking but she said the slopes were closed and it was for our safety that we not proceed. We said we knew the area and then after seeing other people skiing in the same area she let us go.

Fri (12/23) - No new snow so conditions were not very good. We skied about an hour+ but that's it. We skied the Sunset Glade area which was not too bad but snow starting to get heavy. We dropped down on a path (may be Mid-Mountain trail?) and skied along in the woods. Very pretty! Then skied Bald Mountain which was disastrous. Finished with Success and left. Passes blacked out for Christmas week so let's hope for some snow close to New Year day.

Mon (1/2) - First day back after the Christmas week. Unfortunately no new snow so conditions were not very good at all!! We skied Bald Mountain via the Sultan Express and did a few runs on Evergreen. Very scrapy and not much snow to grab. Also skied the Sunset Glade area which was not too bad but snow starting to get heavy. We dropped down on a path (may be Mid-Mountain trail?) and skied along in the woods. Returned on Success and left.

Wed (1/4) - No new snow so conditions continue to deteriorate. Skied the Northside area a few times and returned via Blue Bell. Also skied the Sunset Glade which was ok and then dropped down onto a path. Woods were nice and was able to get some exercise. Messed around with doing 360 spins on Success.

Mon (1/9) - A bit new snow over the weekend but not enough. Helped conditions a tad but that was it. We skied the Sunset Glade (which was actually pretty good) and the Northside area. Practiced moguls and parallel skiing.

Wed (1/11) - Skied the Northside area on Flagstaff Mountain. Continued practicing moguls. Conditions still not good!

Fri (1/13) - Skied the Northside area on Flagstaff Mountain. Continued practicing moguls. Conditions still not good!

Mon (1/16) - Skied the Northside area on Flagstaff Mountain. Continued practicing moguls. Snowed a little today but not enough to make much of a dent. Predicted to snow the rest of the week so things may improve.

Wed (1/18) - Conditions continue to not be that great. Skied the moguls in the Northside area.

Fri (1/20) - Skied both the Empire glade and Sunset glade twice. Conditions were really good in the glades. We were able to find untouched powder which was about 18" deep. Still had to be careful not to hook our tips on fallen branches and trees since the base still needs to be deeper. Also skied the steep section of Big Stick on our return to Snow Park.

Mon (1/23) - Finally.... snow conditions were great! We had a large snow storm over the weekend and dumped about 25" of snow. We skied the Empire glade 3 times and had a blast. Soft fresh powder! We also skied the Ontario spine and bowl for the first time this season. Skied Big Stick and also the Olympic slope on our return to Snow Park. On our return we skied a few more surprise glades.

Tue (1/24) - Since the snow was great yesterday we wanted to grab a few runs before the conditions began to deteriorate. Skied the Sunset glade and the aspen glades in the Mayflower area. Mayflower bowl is still not open.

Wed (1/25) - Skied the Empire glade twice but unfortunately due to a bit warmer temps the snow is beginning to get heavy. Glade was still fun. Also skied the Ontario spine and exited to the left through the glade to come out on Hidden Treasure. Tried Square Deal for the first time this season. Did a final run on Bald Mountain and ended up on the Crown Point lift. I believe we were skiing on Legal Tender.

Fri (1/27) - Perfect blue sky with colder temps. Skied the Empire glade, Sunset Glade, Ontario Spine & Bowl and glades on Bald Mountain. Tried skiing a part of the Mayflower Bowel but not enough snow. Bailed out to the glades and cut across a few slopes. Sunset Glade had the best snow but Empire was still pretty good. No new snow predicted for the next few days so who knows what Monday will bring.

Mon (1/30) - Daly area finally open. Skied the Daly bowl and then went into the Empire glade from there. Snow in glades is heavy due to warmer weather and no new snow. Also skied the moguls in the Northside area, Ontario spine, aspen glade in the Red Cloud area and Square Deal. Took a final run on Success and may have been the last 2 people on the mountain.

Note: only 1 day of skiing this week because we attended a pro-racquetball tournament. Back to the slopes next Monday.

Mon (2/6) - No substantial amount of new snow since 1/21. All the glades were really tracked out. We skied the Empire glade and moguls on Empire mountain a few times. Also skied Square Deal, Northside area and the Olympic slope. Conditions in some of the areas wasn't too bad. Weather was cool with perfect blue sky.

Wed (2/8) - Snowed lightly while we skied but not much of an accumulation. We skied the Daly bowl and into the Empire glade. We also hiked the Daly area to reach the glade to the left of the Empire glade. First time in this glade this season. Skied the Northside area which wasn't that good. Ended up on 3-Ply which actually skied really well. Did that run a few times and ended with 2 final runs on Bald Eagle Mountain.

Fri (2/10) - Very warm day so the snow was very heavy. Made skiing in the moguls a bit tough. The groomed slopes skied well. We skied the Empire glade, Empire moguls, Northside, Square Deal, 3-Ply and ended with the Olympic slope.

Mon (2/13) - Skied Empire glade and also the glade to the left of the Daly Chutes (which required a little bit of hiking). Skied the Sunset Glade. Plenty of new snow due to a small storm the day before.

Extra note: went to the Seafood Buffet on 2/13. The food was good (I wouldn't say excellent) and a typical "yuppie food" environment. Unfortunately we're not buffet people but we thought we'd give it a try.

Wed (2/15) - Practiced moguls today in the Red Cloud area. Also, skied the aspen glade area next to Square Deal and ended the afternoon skiing the Olympic slope.

Mon (2/20) - Did some easier skiing today (Scott and I were a bit sick). Skied the Red Cloud area, Northside area and Deer Crest area. This was the first time we skied the Deer Crest area this season.

Wed (2/22) - Scott is feeling better and I'm slowly following behind. We skied the Empire moguls and Red Cloud moguls. Conditions were soft and not bad. We ended the day by returning to Snow Park via the White Owl slope.

Fri (2/24) - Crowded today... glad the President's week is almost over. We skied the Empire glade, Daly glade and Ontario spine. Snow conditions weren't too bad. Then skied White Owl but wasn't as good as Wed.

Mon (2/27) - Gray and windy day..... conditions weren't too bad. Skied slopes and glades from Mayflower to Empire (i.e. the entire resort). Skied the Empire glade, Ontario spine, Sunset glade, glade in the Mayflower area and several slopes on Bald Mountain. Also skied White Owl and Success to end the day.

Wed (2/29) - Gray and windy day but conditions were very good. Lots of snow so it was tricky to ski. We skied the Empire glade, Ontario spine, Ontario bowl, Sunset glade and a few slopes on Bald Mountain. Also skied White Owl, Olympic slope and Success to end the day.

Thur (3/1) - First snow storm has ended so there was a break in the clouds. We hiked to the Daly glade and hit lots of powder. Also skied the Empire moguls, Red Cloud moguls and ended the day skiing White Owl, Olympic slope and Success.

Fri (3/2) - Busy today. Skied the Mayflower area. Tried the Mayflower bowl once and unfortunately it still needs snow. Spent most of the afternoon exploring the glades (Triangle Trees and Sunset). Ended the day skiing White Owl, Olympic slope and Success.

Mon (3/5) - Oh well.... with the warm weather over the weekend the snow has packed down and is now crusty in many of the areas. We skied Empire once and the moguls were not good at all. Ended up skiing the Northside area and fortunately the moguls were actually pretty good. Ended the afternoon with skiing the Olympic slope. We were both skiing the moguls quite well. They were slow and soft!

Wed (3/7) - Skied with Nick & Naomi and had lots of fun. Conditions were "dust over crust" in many areas. Skied the Empire glade, Daly glade, Sunset glade and several times in the Northside area. Groomed slopes weren't too bad but moguls were pretty scrapy. Skied Homeward Bound, Solid Muldoon and many more. Returned to Snowpark after about 6 hours of skiing.

Fri (3/9) - Skied with Nick & Naomi.... lots of fun. Conditions were "dust over crust" in some areas and very soft in others. Perfect blue sky and very warm. Skied the entire resort from Mayflower to Deer Crest to Lady Morgan. Skied Empire area, Northside area, Redcloud area and even over in the Deer Crest area. Skied the Jordanelle slope so we could take a ride on the gondola. Skied over 5 hours.

Mon (3/12) - Sunny and warm today! Skied the Northside area and did lots of mogul practicing and jumps. We were doing pretty well! Ended the day by skiing Blue Bell and cutting through the small glade over to the Red Cloud area for more moguls. Last run was on the Olympic slope which was fun and challenging.

Wed (3/14) - Spring skiing conditions with soft, heavy, slushy snow. Very warm this week but fortunately the moguls are holding up. Skied the entire time in the Red Cloud area to continue our mogul practicing. Skied both White Owl and Champion on our return back to Snow Park.

Fri (3/16) - Warm again!! Snow conditions deteriorating fast... heavy and slushy. Skied the entire time in the Red Cloud area to continue our mogul practicing. Skied Champion on our return back to Snow Park.

Mon (3/19) - Had lots of snow over the weekend so conditions were really good. We skied the glades only to take advantage of the powder. Skied the Empire glade, Daly glade and Sunset glade. Scott also skied one of the Daly Chutes.... yeah! Powder was really deep (about 15") in the Daly glade. Skied White Owl and Champion on our return to Snow Park.

Wed (3/21) - Weather has warmed up so the snow is now heavy, sticky and gloppy. Skied the moguls in the Northside area and Red Cloud area. The heavy snow made the skiing tough. The next few days will be very warm and in the 60's.

Mon (4/2) - Very warm last week so no skiing. Temps dropped last night so all melted snow had hardened. Conditions were terrible. We skied a few runs for an hour and left.

Fri (4/6) - Conditions were really bad.... "dust over crust". We ended up skiing the whole afternoon and had fun. Did some jumps and skied mostly groomers. Finally took the only lift we never rode - Silver Strike Express. Weather will be warming up the next few days so we plan to get 1 or 2 final days of skiing for the season.

Thur (4/12) - Our final day of skiing at Deer Valley. Resort was very quiet and conditions were actually pretty good. Skied Empire, Red Cloud and Northside. Had some snow night before and while we skied. Lots of fresh tracks. We had fun and was a nice way to end the season.

Total days out this season = 45
